AGM 2019: Group Scout Leader’s report

Thank you all for coming along to the 2019 annual general meeting of the 5th New Forest North Scout Group. It is good to see so many parents showing a keen interest in their children’s Scouting.

This year has again been a very busy year for the group with all sections taking part in many of the district and county events and competitions, so many in fact that once again the group have won the coveted District Commissioner’s Participation Trophy.

The whole group took part in both the District St. George’s day parade in April and the Totton and Eling Remembrance Day Parade. There was a great turn out and the young people all looked very smart parading in the sunshine in their best uniforms.

I am sure that the other leaders will want to tell you all about the exciting things that they have been up to in their section reports.

The annual census for the Group shows that once again membership has grown (up 15.4% from last year) with 105 young people recorded this year. This is the highest in over twenty years with growth in both the Beaver and Scout sections.

I’m sure you will all join me in saying a big thank you to all of leaders who have once again put in a great deal of hard work and freely given up a lot of their time to provide quality Scouting for all your children this past year, and also to all of the officers and members of the group executive committee without whose hard work and support the group would not be able to run.

On this subject, if you feel you would like to help in any way, maybe with fund raising, maintenance, helping with the sections or even to join us as a Leader, please don’t be shy, come and speak to me afterwards.

Yours in Scouting, Barry Stride.
