This is the place where true Scouting begins. The original and the best, with the chance to take part in over 200 activities, learning a host of new skills while you’re at it. It’s a great opportunity to have fun and make new friends.

Garland Scout Troop meets on Thursday evenings and is for all boys and girls who are aged between 10½ and 14 years old.

If you have any questions, direct them to Joe Simes at [email protected]. Or you can join our register of interest now.

Scouts take part in an immensely busy and varied programme of activities which the Scouts themselves decide. Adventure is the name of the game alongside getting out into the open and really having a go. There is a multitude of camps and events spread throughout the year so there is something for everyone.

The scout programme gives young people confidence and encourages them to explore their interests, beliefs and attitudes and to be creative. They build upon skills they already have, or have learnt, and encourages them to use them independently. A Cub scout might go on a walk, a Scout might lead an expedition group of other scouts.

To find out more, check out some of the badges you can do (to give you a flavour of the kind of activities you can ask for) or ask one of our leaders in person or email us and we’ll pass them on.

Optional extras

In addition to the main uniform, there are several other items that may enhance your time in Scouting. They are optional and can be bought through Scout Store while some can also be bought at uniform suppliers. There are various other accessories online including camping kit, clothing, badges and more – you can find the range here.
