AGM 2018: Group Scout Leader’s report

Thank you all for coming along to the 2018 annual general meeting of the 5th New Forest North Scout Group. It is good to see so many parents showing a keen interest in their children’s Scouting.

This year has again been a very busy year for the group with all sections taking part in many of the district and county events and competitions, so many in fact that once again the group have won the coveted District Commissioner’s Participation Trophy. I am sure that the other leaders will want to tell you all about the exciting things that they have been up to in their section reports.

This year it was again our turn to host the District St Georges Day Parade at Lyndhurst. The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts all looked very smart parading through the town in the sun shine. All sections took part in the excellent space themed service which was devised for the group by Red Wolf.

The annual census for the Group shows that once again membership has grown with 144 members this year including leaders, the highest since 2009 with numbers growing steadily already this year.

I’m sure you will all join me in saying a big thank you to all of leaders who have once again put in a great deal of hard work and freely given up a lot of their time to provide quality Scouting for all your children this past year, and also to all of the officers and members of the group executive committee without whose hard work and support the group would not be able to run.

On this subject, if you feel you would like to help in any way, maybe with fund raising, maintenance, helping with the sections or even to join us as a Leader, please don’t be shy, come and speak to me afterwards.
