Fundraising News – September 2019

The Santa’s are coming!

It’s that time of year again when we set hundreds of runners off through the street of Totton all in aid of festive cheer and their local scouts. We couldn’t do this without help from you each year so here’s how you can help:

1. Spread the word.

The more people who share the event and encourage people to sign up then the more runners we have. It’s the simplest but most powerful thing you can do.

2. Take part in the run.

Fancy a short 2.5km jog on a Sunday morning? Then sign up today and earn your own medal.

3. Help us marshal.

Runners on the road mean that traffic can’t be. We need people to stand on road closures during the run so our runners are safe. You’ll get shown what to do and it’s an easy way to make a big difference on the day.

4. Help us in the run up.

From leaflet drops, setting up stalls to manning suit collection the week before there are loads of small jobs that help the event run.

Many hands do really make light work so help us out today. Volunteer by emailing [email protected]

Got a cause to shout about?

We’re looking for sponsors for Santa run. From big sponsors to small they all help support the event and raise money for your scout group.

So if you know of a business, cause, charity or organisation that wants to get their name out or shout about what they’re about put them in touch with us! [email protected]

Match ’em up.

Does your business or employer offer match funding for donations? Can you put in a good word for a group like ours?

Match funding allows us to make our hard work go further so donations can double! Email us today if you can help. [email protected]

Collect, donate and shop. How you can help every day.

Easy Fundraising

Help us raise money when you shop without costing you a penny. No, it really is that simple. Simply visit our page at easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/5thtestwood before you shop at retailers such as amazon and they’ll send us a small donation. Bookmark it in your browser today!

Second-hand books

As you may know, we have a collection of second-hand books at the back of our hall which you can pick up for any donation of your choosing.

Empty ink cartridges

Donate your old printer ink cartridges in our box at the back of the hall and we’ll earn money back on your rubbish. No toner cartridges though, we can’t send those off.

Milk bottle tops

Did you know milk bottle tops can’t go in your clear sack to be recycled? Instead pop them in our big bin of bottle tops at the back of the hall and they’ll get recycled for cash. Just make sure you give them a rinse first. No-one wants smelly bottle tops.

Clothing

Look in the car park for our rag bag bin where you can donate any old or wrong size clothing to be resold or recycled. Keep them clean and bag them up before you put them in. Find bags inside the hall.

There are also other events during the year so keep an eye out for them. Plus if you have any suggestions then do let us know!

Raffle prizes wanted.

Everyone loves a good raffle with lots of prizes. If you have something you could add, or you can get prizes off local businesses we’d love to hear from you. [email protected]
